What can I use to keep my concrete clean?2018-12-07T13:22:09+10:00

Soapy water, a broom and a good hosing should do the trick. We offer concrete cleaning for a more in-depth clean, so please don’t hesitate to contact us for a comprehensive quotation.

When can I hose my concrete?2018-12-07T13:22:36+10:00

We recommend you wait a week after installation before hosing your concrete.

Why has my concrete cracked?2018-12-09T17:08:55+10:00

Concrete is made from natural materials which expand and contract with changes in moisture and temperature. The overall tendency is for the concrete to contract and this can cause cracking at an early age of the concrete.

We place control joints in the concrete slab which encourages the concrete to crack along these ‘pre-planned cracks’ so when the concrete contracts, it will crack in the control joint instead of randomly across the slab.

Irregular cracks sometimes do appear, but don’t be alarmed, these won’t affect the integrity of the concrete.

Should I seal my concrete and how often will I need to seal it?2018-11-30T08:54:11+10:00

We recommend sealing decorative concrete to help protect it from substances such as car oil and grime. Sealing also helps to reduce any fading. You may need to reseal every 3-5 years depending on the volume of traffic on the area.

Does coloured concrete fade?2018-12-09T17:09:23+10:00

Coloured concrete can fade to some degree over time depending on the volume of traffic and the weather conditions. Ask our experts how to maintain your coloured concrete and how to keep it vibrant and fresh.

Can all concreters place exposed aggregate concrete?2018-12-09T17:09:33+10:00

No. If exposed aggregate is your choice of concrete, you need an experienced concreter who has the skill necessary to achieve a beautiful and even finish.

What maintenance is required for decorative concrete?2018-12-09T17:07:28+10:00

For coloured & exposed aggregate concrete cleaning; soapy water, a broom and a good hosing should do the trick. We offer concrete cleaning for a more in-depth clean, so please don’t hesitate to contact us for advice and a comprehensive quotation.

We recommend having a sealer applied to exposed aggregate and coloured concrete. Sealing helps to reduce any possible fading and helps to keep the pigment and stones rich and vibrant. You may need to reseal every 3-5 years depending on the volume of traffic on the area.

Maintenance for polished concrete is minimal. To clean, use hot water and/or a cleaner made for polished concrete. Do not use products such as degreasers or acid-based cleaners as they will etch the concrete and reduce the gloss. For dusting, use a dry Micro-Fibre Dust Mop. Although polished concrete is durable, it is also breathable and porous, so ensure that any spills are wiped up immediately and not left to soak into the floor.

How long until I can walk on polished concrete?2018-12-09T17:09:55+10:00

Depending on the type of polish and finish, you can walk on your polished concrete almost straight away. Please check with us prior to walking on it. You should wait at least 72 hours before allowing water to touch the floor – this gives the sealer/stain protectant time to cure.

Is polished concrete slippery?2018-11-30T08:58:13+10:00

No more than other hard flooring surfaces. Almost any surface is slippery when water is added. We can add a texturised product to help reduce slippage if required.
